bigger tires and cut fenders

Well I came across some used 36" military Humvee tires mounted on 8 lug wheels....
So I put them on the dodge. They are considerably larger compared to the my currant 34" MTR's. Obviously the fenders need to be trimmed so for clearance reasons. I got the fronts mounted and hacked the fenders, they still look pretty rough but I ran out of daylight

RPM's

I finished hooking up the tach, and it works perfectly! Since I just did this same install on my dodge I did not document this one as thoroughly.

engine bay

I installed the sensor for my tach on the hummer. While under the hood I tore off all the wiring conduit and removed the old factory glow plug stuff from the harness (since mine are manually operated). I added some new conduit and secured everything. The last pic is all the crap I removed.

Tach 2

Since the auto meter tach I put in my dodge worked so well, I ordered one for the hummer as well.

Wires

I spent a little time with the hummer. I wired in a stereo, hooked up the speakers, cleaned up some of the wire mess behind the dash, got the volt meter hooked up and got lights to three of the gauges. I still need to figure out how to hook up the oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge. This was the first time I hooked up a stereo with out a vehicle radio harness. It wasn't too bad, I got a diagram showing what each wire goes to.

Lil truck

Well my Nissan has been leaking coolant and I am getting tired of adding coolant all the time. I investigated and found a leak from the water pump. Well it's been over 60,000 miles since I last changed my coolant so I flushed the coolant system and swapped in a new water pump.

Tach

My dodge is a 1991.5 which means it has an inter-cooler and over drive. I have wanted a Tachometer for a while now. I have researched this subject quite a bit, a lot of folks say that 91.5 have a factory plug taped to the wire loom under the dash. I did a lot of looking around under there and I did not find anything. There are all kinds tachs on the internet and all kinds of wild installs ranging from "I plugged it in to this extra plug and it worked perfect " to " I made a gas tach work on mine it only cost $900 and took me a year". My time and finances are limited and I don't want a tach that goes to 12000 rpm when the max I will see is 3000 rpm.
I came across this diesel only universal tach with alternator sensor on ebay for $130. The install was easy and it works. Auto Meter gives you quick connect stuff to make everything work but I opted for solder and heat-shrink. I read that the needle will go wild if you listen to the radio with the truck off (that's why i wired a switch in the power). This is not true, power draw from a sub does not affect it either. The only time I have any needle shake is when idling in gear like at a stoplight. Auto Meter recommends a 1 amp inline fuse for the supply power, this is not included. I picked one up (with a bag of 1 amp fuses) at radio shack for $5.
