Axle pt20

The calipers I originally bought were definitely not the correct ones. After quite a few trips to the auto parts store and trying different years of calipers I finally found a fit, 1980-84. I was unaware that F350s from that era came with D60s, I was under the impression that those years were all TTB. I have learned 4x4 F350s have always come standard with a D60.

Axle pt 19

After plenty of scraping I took the knuckles to a friend of mine who washed them with a high pressure high temperature pressure washer. I then clamped them up in a vice and drilled the tapered hole out to 7/8". I am going to run one ton GM TRE (tie rod ends) and I am going to run them OTN (over the knuckle). I will buy the conversion spacers at a later time. On a side note I would really like to own a Wilton vice.
One of the great things about my job is that the company owns a glass bead blaster and they were kind enough to let me use it. I blasted the knuckles, rock guards and caliper mounting plates.
After blasting the parts were wiped down with lacquer thinner, primed and painted.

Axle pt 18

I tore down the knuckles tonight. The internals are still in good shape, although the 30 years of dirt grease and grime on the inside of the knuckles was quite stubborn.

Axle pt 17

My home made axle nut wrench works quite well. The hub came off easily and the bearings seem to be in excellent condition (I still need to de-grease them). The inner axle nut has damage that matched the outer one. These hubs were obviously serviced at some point and the person doing so used a chisel instead of the specialty socket. Since I snapped the bleeder valve off of the passenger brake caliper I purchased a new pair. The new calipers are slightly different than the OEM ones, they come with these rubber and metal blocks and no instructions...

Humvee post #6

It took me 5 years of looking and more money than I would like to have spent, but I finally have a complete set of rocker panels for the Humvee.

Axle pt 15

I got one of the manual hubs off but I was not able to get the inner axle nut out. I have a specialty axle nut socket for a GM 14 bolt that I modified to fit a dodge Dana 60 front axle but it is not deep enough to reach the inner nut on the ford axle. Judging be the damage on the outer axle nut, someone has had this hub apart in the past.
