Body work
I dragged the hmmwv body panels out of storage and started cleaning them up. These are quite filthy and will require extensive cleaning. The panels may look good from a distance but they are quite beat up. I started to straighten out the smaller panels tonight.

Axle pt 39
After I installed the tie rod I noticed that it made contact with the diff cover when the wheels were all full lock when turned left. I removed the cover, heated the area put the small left over piece of DOM on it and pounded on it for quite some time. The next day I cleaned up the cover, painted it and installed it.

Hood #2
I found another Humvee hood a couple hours from me... so naturally I bought it. The damage on this one should be easier to fix than my other hood.

Warn
A buddy of mine stopped by to the other day and gave me these! Brand new, I am quite exited!
The new hubs came with a different style retaining ring which were a major PIA to install especially on the side with all the chisel damage. After I installed the hubs I noticed the they were not engaging the spindals when locked. I dissembled everything and counted the splines and sure enough these hubs are 35 spline for a later model ford. I disassembled the Warn and stock locking hubs and checked snap-ring tolerances and they were identical. I swapped out the inner splined piece and reassembled everything and now they work properly.

Axle pt 38
Here are a couple shot of the brakes going back on. I also cut the tie rod to length and mocked it up.
I initially TIG welded the the threaded inserts but I felt I need needed more weld (this is the steering after all) I laid a MIG bead over the top (its not pretty but it should hold). This new Millermatic 211 is a pretty sweet machine!

Axle pt 36
I got the external part of the locking hubs taken apart, thoroughly cleaned and reassembled. I swapped out the pink switch for a black one off one of the old locking dodge hubs I have. I also noticed that the hubs off of the ford axle were slightly different, or at least one was the other was identical to my old dodge hubs. The ford one has 2 stepped ridges while the dodge only has one. After I installed them I made sure they functioned properly.
